The 7 Concepts

Regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, economic resources, religious convictions, or political persuasion, we share a desire to flourish.

The concepts clarify this common desire and explain how we can practically achieve it.

The more we understand the things we share, the more we understand ourselves.

01

We all want the same thing.

Write your awesome label here.
"Well-being boils down to our needs being met. Unfortunately, most of us are confused or completely unaware of what our actual needs are. Without clarity, we end up living in chronic neglect."
"Ultimately, well-being isn't an accomplishment or an acquisition, but a rhythm of life that happens when we understand our needs and meet them consistently."

02

Humans are [super]nature.

Write your awesome label here.
"The most basic understanding of ourselves is as a part of nature; a co-inhabitant of an interdependent ecosystem."
"In English, the prefix for above is “super.” Humans are super-nature, or supernatural, because of our consciousness."
"So we’ve forgotten we are part of nature. And we’ve also forgotten we are supernatural: possessing a consciousness capable of radical creation."

03

Human purpose is universal.

Write your awesome label here.

“If you plan on being anything less than what you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life.”

Abraham Maslow

"The story of the human race is men and women selling themselves short.”

also Abraham Maslow

04

THERE IS A MAP TO YOUR PURPOSE.

Write your awesome label here.
"The fourth concept is all about the storyline, or map, that humans have been teaching their children for as long as we have records of what humans have been doing."
"You are the central figure of an unwritten plot. Will it be an adventure? Will it be a tragedy?"

05

There is a method to undo madness.

Write your awesome label here.

"There are two things a person should never be angry at, what they can help, and what they cannot."

Plato

"When the world looks dark and full of conflict, it’s because we’ve internalized the messages of those who wish to control us for their benefit. We believe it’s a scary world, and we shrink away from engaging it. Fear and hesitancy become familiar. Little by little we become immune to hope and inspiration."

06

The goal of the individual, is the goal of the collective.

Write your awesome label here.

“The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that is wrong with the world.”

Dr. Paul Farmer

"There is only one way to achieve a peaceful world with equity among all, but it’s radically easier than any of us dreamed. Everyone can participate because everyone wants their own well-being. That's all it takes, for you to care enough to pursue your own flourishing."

07

The way to make the world a better place, is to be a better part of it.

Write your awesome label here.
"We treat ourselves and others as bodies. Beautiful or ugly, tall or short, light or dark, rich or poor, male or female, heteronormative or not. These are the actual spectrums by which we access resources and power. They have nothing to do with the actual nature of humans - the immaterial being that animates each physical body."
"Raging about injustice doesn't create justice. Fire alarms don't put out fires."

The Weekly Conversation

Real people, real talk, real support.

The weekly conversation is how we stay connected and committed to our own well-being practices.

After completing the three courses (7 Concepts, Your Big Story, Tending) you're invited to participate in a weekly small group conversation.

The conversation consists of answering standard prompts which are provided in the Tending course. Using these prompts helps us to share our experiences in common language, no matter what our differences may be.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the conversation provide support?

Research shows that being listened to is a powerful form of mental health support.

Knowing that we will be able to share our thoughts with others who care, motivates us to make positive daily choices and to reflect on our experiences.

Do I have to join a conversation?

No. There is no requirement, nor commitment to the weekly conversations.

Will I always be in the same small group?

Possibly, but not necessarily.

The conversations are held by phone and scheduled by an independent network of hosts. Each host lists their scheduled conversations and contact info. RSVP's are made directly on individual host websites.

Can I just listen?

You do not have to answer every prompt and speak at length, but joining in a conversation requires some participation. Introducing yourself and giving a short summary of your prompt responses is acceptable.

What do we talk about?

The conversation consists of each individual sharing about their experiences using the conversation prompts.

The Tending course reviews all things related to participating in a weekly conversation.

Where do I find the schedule for available calls?

The schedule is made available to everyone who completes the three courses.

When you complete the third course, Tending, the weekly conversation booking calendar is made available to you.
